How widespread is the move?
Breadth measures participation across the comparable institutional panel: how many schemes increased, against how many reduced, in the latest comparable transition.
181 schemes increasing181 schemes reducing

LoadingHow meaningful is the change?
One fund buying is a transaction. Many funds accumulating repeatedly can be a signal.
Institutional Conviction examines the structure of ownership changes across funds and across time to distinguish isolated portfolio activity from broader institutional behaviour.
Live example
The figures below are the current institutional conviction result for a covered stock. Nothing here is scored, and nothing here is a recommendation.
HDFCBANK: broad persistent reduction over 2026-03–2026-08 (latest reducing).
Mar 2026 → Aug 2026. Pattern broad persistent reduction. Strength strong. Trend continuing. Net breadth 0. Entered 13, exited 72.
Why we built it
One institution making a large transaction is different from many independent funds increasing their positions repeatedly across several disclosure periods.
Stake Trace therefore evaluates the structure of the movement rather than only its absolute magnitude. The result is a direction, a pattern, and the evidence behind them.
How to read it
Breadth measures participation across the comparable institutional panel: how many schemes increased, against how many reduced, in the latest comparable transition.
181 schemes increasing181 schemes reducing
Persistence asks whether the same direction shows up across the disclosure transitions in the window, rather than once.
The current reading classifies the latest panel as broad, moderate, or concentrated from how many schemes participated. That label is the concentration measure returned today.
broad
362 schemes in the latest comparable panel

MCP
The same intelligence available on Stake Trace can be queried by agents and applications through the Stake Trace MCP.
Assess whether mutual-fund accumulation or reduction in a stock is broad, persistent and meaningful, or a one-off concentrated move. Reads the trailing disclosure periods and returns an ownership pattern, separate window and latest directions, a trend/reversal state, a strategy context, a discretionary-signal label and a strength label, with the evidence behind them. Returns no score and no recommendation. A stock with too few comparable transitions is reported as insufficient_evidence rather than as an error. For one fund or a selected set, breadth labels describe only the selected schemes, and `notes` explains how their transitions and persistence were read. Holder scope: omit both `fund` and `funds` for all mutual funds; send `fund` for one scheme; send `funds` for a selected set of schemes, read as one combined panel (`fund_mode` aggregate, the default) or one result per scheme (`fund_mode` individual). `holder_scope` in the response states which was used; results for selected schemes never describe the whole mutual-fund industry.
